Vol.3 Disciples of Shi Dabin

All these teapots were all made by the disciples of Shi Dabin. They each made new explorations in the design and craftsmanship of Yixing teapots, leaving behind styles that are still popular today.

Many of their other teapot styles were documented in writings from that time, but unfortunately, these works have not survived to the present.

Xu Youquan is the most accomplished among them. He demonstrated a natural talent for pottery in his childhood, and he certainly lived up to that promise.

The most popular Yixing teapot style today, the "Xishi," is said to have been pioneered by Xu Youquan. His creations were renowned for their ever-changing forms and exceptionally refined craftsmanship.

In addition to teapots, he also made various other ceramic works as below.

However, in his later years, he lamented, "I've spent my lifetime seeking for meticulousness, but I still fall short of my master's natural ruggedness."
